On September 11, 2024, BEPROACT presented its innovative project during the Trade Mission from Flanders to Amsterdam, organized by the Building & Infrastructure Technology Club. Part of a dynamic three-day program focused on urban redevelopment and infrastructure solutions, the event facilitated knowledge exchange between participants from Flanders and the Netherlands.
Advancing Data-Driven Asset Management
Raymond Feron of Rijkswaterstaat introduced the EU North West Europe-funded BEPROACT project, aiming to enhance partners' maturity in data-driven asset management by aligning:
- Transformation Strategy: Establishing a clear roadmap for adopting data-driven methodologies.
- Digital Solutions: Integrating advanced tools to enrich asset management workflows.
- People Readiness: Empowering teams to fully leverage new digital solutions.
Collaboration among public organizations, private companies, and knowledge institutions is key, driving innovative digital solutions across various work packages and pilot cases.

Water Quality Management
Nele Moreels (VMM) and Berdien De Roo (Geosparc) showcased digital solutions for:
- Smart Alarming: Real-time detection of water quality issues.
- Maintenance Optimization: Streamlining activities using data analytics.
- Real-Time Pollution Tracing: Quickly identifying pollution sources to mitigate impact.
Partners from Lille University and the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology contribute AI models to support VMM's engineers and field teams.
Bridge Infrastructure Analysis
Esra Bektas (TNO) presented "A Rapid, Accurate, Explainable Bridge Portfolio Analysis," a rule-checking model assisting Rijkswaterstaat in prioritizing bridge maintenance. Features include:
- Selective Testing: Initially applied to a specific bridge type.
- Comprehensive Application: Performing rule checks and identifying critical components across multiple bridges.
- Scalability: Plans to extend to other partners and asset types.
Integration with Urban Development Initiatives
BEPROACT's presentations complemented other sessions in the trade mission, including:
