BeProAct at the TRA2026 in Budapest

At the Transport Research Arena (TRA) 2026 in Budapest - Europe’s leading conference for transport research and innovation – researchers from the BeProAct project presented their vision of more data‑driven, proactive infrastructure management. TRA serves as a key platform where academia, industry, and policymakers come together to showcase innovations shaping the future of transport systems.

Within this setting, Leo Sotto, Boguslaw Jablkowski and Jan‑Hinrik Borchers (all BASt) presented their contributions to the Asphalt Asset cluster in BeProAct. Their work included a framework for evaluating algorithms for pavement condition forecasting, demonstrating improved prediction performance compared to conventional models, as well as the EasyWIM method. EasyWIM enables the estimation of gross vehicle weights using non‑invasive roadside seismic sensors combined with deep learning, offering a cost‑efficient and practical addition next to traditional systems. Altogether, these contributions illustrate how BeProAct is advancing more efficient, predictive, and data‑driven management of Europe’s road infrastructure.
