Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO)

TNO (Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research) is an independent research organization that brings cutting-edge scientific expertise to solve complex societal challenges. Known for its innovative approach, TNO collaborates with businesses, governments, and other research organizations to apply science and technology to real-world problems. In the BEPROACT project, TNO focuses on behavioural analysis and data-driven insights, helping to design and evaluate interventions that promote proactive asset management across various infrastructure sectors.

TNO plays a key role in Work Package 2 (Smart Assets), specifically in pilot cases for highway pavement and bridge infrastructure. It collaborates with partners like BASt, Autobahn GmbH des Bundes, and Rijkswaterstaat on several innovative pilots, such as the Asphalt Model top-layer and InfraScan bridge prioritisation model. These solutions, based on advanced data analysis, machine learning, and semantic knowledge modelling, aim to optimize asset management by predicting pavement conditions and prioritizing bridge interventions, thereby ensuring more efficient, sustainable, and proactive infrastructure management in the BEPROACT project.
