Reliable data is essential for effective asset management, but turning large volumes of information into meaningful insights remains a challenge. In this workshop, Richard Bon and Lotte Wang presented the development of the National Asset Dashboard (Landelijk Asset Dashboard – LAD) and demonstrated how integrated data can support smarter and more consistent decision-making across all levels of infrastructure management.
Many organisations rely on multiple dashboards, each using different definitions, units and data sources. As a result, users often have to search across several platforms to find the same management information, leading to uncertainty about which data can be trusted. The workshop addressed an important question: How can we create a dashboard that delivers relevant insights across all business layers while ensuring the underlying data is consistent, reliable and trustworthy?
At Rijkswaterstaat, the National Asset Dashboard represents the next step in data-driven asset management. By bringing together sensor data and operational insights in a single environment, the dashboard supports informed decision-making at the strategic, tactical and operational levels.
The session provided an overview of the motivation behind the dashboard, its current development, and the experiences gained so far. The presenters also reflected on the challenges of transforming large streams of data into meaningful and reliable management information and shared practical approaches to addressing these challenges.
