Asset Fault and Management System

Effective management of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) is crucial to ensure reliability and reduce downtime, yet most maintenance practices remain reactive. Dublin City Council’s pilot, in collaboration with the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology, focuses on building maturity in data quality, system usability, and organisational capability to enable a gradual shift towards proactive, evidence-based decision-making.

The pilot centres on the Asset and Fault Management System (AFMS). By analysing fault resolution and contractor response data, the project develops performance dashboards and evaluation tools that improve transparency, accountability, and operational efficiency. To strengthen user engagement and capability, a training chatbot is being developed to provide real-time support and guidance within the AFMS environment.

By improving operational foundations and enabling data-driven planning, the Dublin pilot contributes to the wider BEPROACT goal of enhancing infrastructure resilience across North-West Europe. It offers a replicable model for other cities seeking to advance asset management through incremental, strategic improvements.
